At TCC, we want to do what we do best and add value to our community. Back in 2005, we tried to do a Vacation Bible School and found out that, because we were portable, we didn’t do as good of a job with it as some other churches were already doing. But we do community events really well.

So we started doing a week of sports camp in a park. The event is totally free, with lots of choices for the kids. Along the way, they also learn about the Bible, sing with a live band, experience puppets, have healthy snacks, and top it off with a yummy snow cone.

What always blows me away is the incredible dedication of our volunteers. Let’s face it, it’s hot out there in Texas in July. But they are committed to doing whatever it takes! Under the leadership of the MSC Director, Sylvia Orta, and our Children’s Ministries Coordinator, Tammy Oineon, our team is showing kids that Jesus can help them live UNDEFEATED lives when they live for Him!

TCC will have a booth setup in front of our office to give away popcorn and meet people in our community. We’re also providing a prize (probably a pop-up canopy) to be given away for the event. The Big Hunt

I was just checking to see who officially had the biggest Easter Egg on record. So far, the hunt that holds the world’s record is in Florida. But there is nothing in Texas that comes to close to what’s going to happen this year at The Big Hunt in Kyle.

When we moved to Kyle in 2004, this was our very first event where God confirmed our call to this area as over 800 people showed up. Since then, TBH has gotten bigger every year. Last year, it was so insane that we were left wondering how we could continue to pull this off with the overwhelming number of people that want to show up. Well, this year, the answer came. It was obvious we needed a change of venue to really accommodate everyone.

So, thanks to the leadership of Jennifer and Trey Williams, we’re relocating the Hunt to Thunderhill Raceway just south of Kyle on I-35. This is going to allow us to go to a Whole ‘Notha Level! Plenty of space, accessibility, parking and it places us in the middle of a whole new demographic to reach people.

If you’re a part of The Connection Church family, you can be a part of making The Big Hunt happen. Our motto is: PEOPLE EGGS & H2O! We’re looking for 100 volunteers, 30,000 eggs, and 200 cases of bottled water. And if we get 30,000 eggs, I will get a tattoo with the TCC logo blocks, although, I’m confident that there is no way that’s happening. I’m expecting more like 29,000 eggs. But we’ll see.

The
newest data estimates that an additional 43,906 people clambered on
down to Hays County between April 1, 2000 and July 1, 2007.

The
county’s population numbered just 97,574 at the 2000 census, but the
most recent estimates from last July show that the population had
exceeded 141,000, for a 45 percent growth rate.

About half of that growth occurred in the city of Kyle, where the population was 5,314 at the 2000 census and is now estimated to be in excess of 25,000.

God always has perfect timing, and The Connection Church is riding the wave of that growth to see 1000s of lives changed. We are to go into all the world, and God is now bringing the world to us. Being in the right place at the right time is great, but having the right heart to reach people for Christ at the right time and place is even better.
