About Us

Our Story

The Connection Church started as a dream born in the heart of God. A dream of a new kind of church that exists to help people:

  • Connect with God
  • Connect with each other, and
  • Connect people outside of our church with God

Dr. Cole Phillips caught that vision in 2004 when he and his family moved to the Kyle area to start The Connection Church.

This new church that started with just 4 people held their first community event just 2 months later with over 800 neighbors in attendance. With a focus on serving the community in practical ways and making sure everyone knew they were welcome, 145 people gathered for the very first worship service in the summer of 2004 at Tobias Elementary School. It was very clear to everyone that God had big plans for The Connection Church.

We focus on seven core values that make us unique:

  1. Celebrative Worship in spirit and truth
  2. Ownership of ministries by each member
  3. Needs-based ministries that connect with others
  4. Never miss an opportunity to share Jesus
  5. Excellence in everything we do
  6. Communities of faith and friendship in homes throughout our area
  7. Teach people using God’s Word as our authority and guide

We never could have imagined what God would do next...

No one could have imagined just how responsive people would be to this new church. On Easter 2005, over 200 people came to our 2 Celebration services. To keep up with the rapid growth, we then added a third service in 2007. By the time we celebrated our 3 year birthday, over 100 people had been baptized and many more had accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.

By the start of 2010, it was clear that the church needed to look for our first campus where we could see even more lives changed for God’s glory! God once again miraculously provided for The Connection Church and we moved into our first permanent location with 24,000 square feet located right in between Kyle and Buda in the middle of Hays County.

In 2017, we added a second campus in San Marcos to reach those in the southern area of Hays County!

Then, in 2020, we ramped up our Online presence and started an official Online Campus which meets each week at TCCLive.org, and on our Facebook page and Youtube channel.

Nothing else compares to being a part of something God is doing: one family growing into a church that is impacting over 1300 people each week. We are praying that God will use The Connection Church to touch the thousands of people between Austin and San Antonio and around the world!
