Day 3
Read: James 1:2-4; Romans 5:3-4
Dig Deeper:
A lot of us think though that there’s some sort of on/off switch for our souls in obeying God. Although it’s true the Holy Spirit is going to change your wants and desires when you become a Christian, it’s more of a dial than an on/off switch. But, we do get to choose to turn-up the dial, if we want. There’s actually a tool God uses to help us turn-up that dial of having a for real faith, and that tool is called testing.
A wise man once said: "There is no testimony without a test. There is no message without a mess."
You may have heard of fight or flight? When we face stressful moments, we can either have this tendency to run away or dig our heels in and start throwing punches (sometimes literal punches). The fact is, when we face difficult moments and we run, we don’t get to benefit from them. In contrast, when we face difficult moments in our lives, and we stick it out, and we are faithful to God’s real and true Word, it’s like a level up in our lives.
Declaration: Say this next statement out loud as a declaration of what you have learned today.
When I face a test in my life, I will choose to stay faithful to Christ. I know that my tests will turn into my testimonies.
Pray:
God, help me to stay faithful to You as I face difficult situations in my life. Give me the courage to not run but instead to learn and grow. I believe that as I do, You will give me everything that I need and help me to become the person You have made me to be.
