Day 4
Read: John 15:26; Psalm 121:1-2; Ephesians 3:20-21
Dig Deeper:
Trials lead to perseverance. Perseverance leads to character.
We are built into true Christians as we do the hard work of becoming true Christians. But, it’s important to know that you’re not alone in this work. It’s not just a grit your teeth, knuckle down process. We actually have some help. When you give your life over to Christ, his spirit comes and fills you. Another name for the Holy Spirit is the Helper. And, this kind of help is not just any kind of help. The Bible describes this helper in military terms. He’s not just a soft and squishy comforter. The Holy Spirit is in the trenches with you and fighting for you. He’s fighting for your maturity, and you get to partner with the Holy Spirit in this process.
This process looks like patience and reliance on the Holy Spirit to lead you, guide you, and reveal to you your next steps in this growing process.
Declaration: Say this next statement out loud as a declaration of what you have learned today.
I believe that the Holy Spirit will help me and guide me in becoming more like Jesus. I know that as I rely on the Spirit, I will be able to persevere in the difficult moments of my life.
Pray:
Holy Spirit, lead me and guide me as I face trials in my life. Give me the strength and courage to stay rooted in my faith and to not run away. I believe that as I rely on You, You will reveal to me all that I need to become more like Jesus and be more complete in my faith.
