Day 5

Jan 23, 2026

Read:

Romans 8:11

Dig Deeper:

Once we understand our mission, and we know what tools we have for the mission, we’re left with one task…to stick it out. I don’t have to explain to you how life hits hard, and it often hits fast too. But, when the going gets tough, the tough stick it out.

But, we can’t stick it out on our own. We’re going to need help.

Ecclesiastes 4:10 (NCV) says, “If one falls down, the other can help him up. But it is bad for the person who is alone and falls, because no one is there to help.”

In 1914, an expedition to Antarctica led by Ernest Shackleton found themselves stranded at the bottom of the world. Their ship had been crushed by ice and sunk in freezing waters. No rescue was coming.

For two years, the men survived on this frozen, barren land. With so much of their equipment lost, the men faced off against hunger and the deadly cold, not to mention their own mental fortitude. But, it wasn’t just grit or luck that kept them alive. It was each other.

When one man was tired, another would take up watch. When one man lost hope, another would encourage him. At night, the men would sleep pressed together to keep each other warm. And against all odds–every single man made it back home alive.

We need each other. We cannot go it alone. We weren’t made to go it alone.

And on top of connections with people, we also are going to need a special help – a Heavenly help. That’s where today’s scripture comes in. Take a minute to reread it.

“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11, NLT

The Spirit who raised Christ from the dead also lives in you. If that’s not power, I don’t know what is! So, when you’re having trouble taking steps forward in your life and your mission, lean in to Him, rely on Him, spend time and pray to Him, and allow the Spirit of the Living God to guide you.

Remember, it’s not about perfect steps or knowing all the details. Where’s the fun in that anyway? It’s about continuing to take the next best step forward that you can and trusting God for the rest.

Declaration: Say this next statement out loud as a declaration of what you have learned today.

I will stick it out when things get hard. I believe God will fill me with his strength and power along the way.

Pray:

God, please strengthen me by the power of your Holy Spirit. Help me to be surrounded by a community that will encourage me to keep going, and help me to do the same for others. I trust you with my whole life. Thank you for your good plans for me. Amen.
